HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's ice hockey team came up short against visiting Norwich University on Tuesday at Lee Clement Arena in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.
THE BASICS
Score: New England College 1, Norwich University 3
Records: Pilgrims 1-9-0, 0-7 NEHC | Cadets 6-2-1, 6-1-0 NEHC
HOW IT HAPPENED
- First period resulted in Pilgrims freshman forward Samantha Babbitt (Woodstock, Vt.) scoring the lone NEC goal assisted by graduate forward Mikayla Vincent (Newburyport, Mass.) at 6:40 after Norwich found the back of the net to get the scoring affair started in the first 9:07 of play by sophomore forward Rylie Mclntyre (Brunswick, Maine) from freshman defender Tristina Doyle (Cape Coral, Fla.) and freshman forward Breanna Ricker (Laconia, N.H.). After Babbit's goal, the Cadets wasted no time with another one of their own at the 6:10 mark that came at the hands of Doyle aided by senior defender Neris Archambault (Pepperell, Mass.) and sophomore forward Olivia Boyer (Saint Paul, Minn.).
- The defensive array of NEC was put on full display in the second period against Norwich allowing for no goal scoring to take place.
- From that point on the Pilgrims couldn't come up with an answer to combat the offensive efforts put together by Norwich as the Cadets tacked on their final goal of the game in the third period for good measure credited to senior forward Melianne Reynolds (Sherbrooke, Quebec) passed by senior forward Aimee Headland (Nottingham, United Kingdom) and Archambault.
