NEWTON, Mass. - The New England College men's soccer team fell following a tough second half at Lasell on Tuesday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Taylor Field in Newton, Massachusetts.
THE BASICS
Score: New England College 1, Lasell University 3
Records: Pilgrims 8-6-4, 6-5-3 GNAC | Lasers 4-9-3, 4-7-3 GNAC
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Things got off to a good start for the 'Grims, as in the 15th minute, senior midfielder Alex Rust (Hooksett, N.H.) would give NEC the 1-0 advantage with his second goal of the season, assisted by sophomore midfielder Anthony Aguiar (Guilford, N.H.).
- The Pilgrims would take that 1-0 lead into the halftime break, but unfortunately would not be able to hold onto it. Three unanswered second-half Lasell goals scored by Dillon Winkelman (Spencer, Mass.), Daniel Augustine (Bolton, Mass.), and Daniel Faynstein (Needham, Mass.) would prove too much to overcome giving the Lasers the 3-1 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC junior goalkeeper Hayden Walker (Manchester, N.H.) tallied seven saves in the loss.
- Lasell's junior goalie Cameron McDonough (Melrose, Mass) had five saves with Rust's goal being his lone blemish.
- Lasell narrowly outshot NEC, 18-14.
