Terry Doyle

Terry Doyle

Terry Doyle was named as the head coach for the NEC baseball team in January of 2019. He has won 101 games across seven seasons including a program-best 29 wins in 2019. Doyle led the 'Grims to back-to-back NAC Championship game appearances in 2017 and 2018 before bringing the 2019 squad to an NECC Championship title and an NCAA Super Regional bid. The Pilgrims, under Doyle, also earned three consecutive playoff berths from 2021 to 2023.

In his first season at the helm of the team, Doyle led the Pilgrims to one of their best seasons in program history. New England College picked up their first conference championship in school history after defeating Mitchell College 2-1. The team went on to the NCAA Tournament, where they defeated nationally-ranked Southern Maine (twice) and MIT to advance to the Super Regionals. NEC fell one win shy of advancing to the Division III College World Series to UMass Boston. The Pilgrims finished the year nationally ranked in both polls for the first time in program history (23 in d3baseball.com; 28 in America Baseball Coaches Association). Along the way, Doyle was named d3baseball.com Coach of the Year.

Doyle has played professionally in the Dominican Republic, Japan, Mexico, and Venezuela. Doyle has pitched professionally in the farm systems for the Chicago White Sox, Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles, and Arizona Diamondbacks. The highest he reached professionally was when he pitched for the Baltimore Orioles Triple-A International League affiliate, the Norfolk Tides. In the 2007 MLB Draft, Doyle was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers but ultimately decided to return to Boston College for his senior year. Doyle competed in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. He was drafted in the 2008 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox.

Doyle graduated from Boston College, class of 2008, with a Bachelor’s degree in Math. He spent his senior year gaining his teaching credentials. Doyle attended Salem High School where he was named The Eagle-Tribune’s Player of the Year twice.
