HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College women's soccer team picked up a tie at home against Dean College on Saturday afternoon. The Pilgrims now sit at 0-2-2 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.
Both teams exchanged early chances in the opening half, with the visiting Bulldogs striking first in the 9th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Just six minutes later, freshman Estrella Michaelidis (Dedham, Mass.) connected with senior Mia Loewenberg (Milford, Conn.) who scored to make it 1-1. Dean quickly answered, finding the back of the net to take the 2-1 lead. The Pilgrims continued to fire shots on target but were unable to find the back of the net as the Bulldogs had a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
The 'Grims wasted no time to open the second half as sophomore Julianna Barrett (Orange, Conn.) found the foot of Michaelidis who netted the second goal of the game to tie it at 2-2. The Bulldogs responded by firing several shots on target in hopes of taking the lead, but senior Hollie Bomba (Seymour, Conn.) came up big with key saves to keep the game tied. Sophomore Abbey Keyes (Dedham, Mass.) and Barrett continued to apply the offensive pressure, testing Bulldogs goalkeeper Danielle Reinhard, who remained tough in net. Graduate Shelby McBain (Indianhead, Md.) fired a late shot on target, but Reinhard made the save as the teams came to a 2-2 draw.
The 'Grims outshot the Bulldogs 17-10 with 8-7 shots on target differential. Bomba recorded 90 minutes in net with five saves while Reinhard finished with six. Michaelidis notched her second assist and goal of the season, while Barrett earned her first assist. Loewenberg scored her first goal of the 2025 season in today's game.
The Pilgrims continue GNAC competition as they travel to Chicopee, Massachusetts on Tuesday to take on Elms College with a 7:00 PM kickoff
