Men's Ice Hockey Outshines #8/5 Beacons, 3-2

HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College men's ice hockey team runs their unbeaten streak to eight straight with a 3-2 victory over #8/5 UMass Boston in New England Hockey Conference action, Friday evening.
The Pilgrims will climb to 10-3-2 and 5-3-2 in league play, while the Beacons drop their second game in-a-row and go to 12-4-0 and 8-1-0 in NEHC action.

New England College struck halfway through the first period when Adam Zollner found the top corner. Keenan Haase won a board battle and centered it to Zollner in the slot.
In the second, both teams struck twice. William Riise found himself on a breakaway, as David Good forced a turnover and used a bank pass off the boards to assist Riise on the goal. 50 seconds later the Pilgrims' lead grew to three, as Connor Fries tipped in the rebound off of the Carlos Fornaris slapshot from the point. UMass Boston came roaring back a minute later Zack Bross scored a power play goal from the top of the right circle. With under five minutes remaining in the period, Nolan Redler found the back of the net on the power play. His shot from the point beat the NEC goal to the far post.

In the final period, the Beacons applied the pressure on the Pilgrims, but Anthony Pupplo stood tall between the pipes.

GOALTENDERS Anthony Pupplo turned aside 36 saves in the win, while Bailey MacBurnie made 23 stops for the Beacons.

- This was the 53rd matchup between the two schools, NEC is 32-19-2 in those games.
- The last time New England College took down a nationally ranked team was #6/8 UMass Boston last year on January 20th
